Kavita Jaiswal (b. 1960) is a distinguished exponent of Contemporary Abstract Expressionism. She began her artistic journey in the 1980s, and through abstraction, her practice encompasses a diverse range of media, including Canvas & Paper works as well as Still Photography & Video Art.
Kavita’s work has been showcased in prestigious international exhibitions, including: A Rising Tide - Women Artists from the Alkazi Collection; Christie’s Auction for South Asian Art, London; The National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; UNESCO’s Power of Peace exhibition, Bangkok; the Chelsea International Art Exhibition, New York; The India Art Fair, New Delhi and The Mumbai Art Fair, among others.
She has been recognised with the Distinguished Achievements Award, conferred by a jury headed by K. R. Subbanna, Chairman of the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. She is also a recipient of the Charles Wallace India Trust Award by the British Council as an artist-in-residence, in addition to the National Award as well as State-level awards, and the Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
Jaiswal’s works are part of significant public and private collections, including The British Museum, London; the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; the Alkazi Collection of Contemporary Art; the Kiran Nadar Museum New Delhi; the British Council, New Delhi; the Scottish Society for the Arts, Scotland among others.
